Why agriculture is so important?

Why agriculture is so important?

Agriculture provides employment opportunities for rural people on a large scale in underdeveloped and

developing countries. It is an important source of livelihood.

The rising agricultural surplus caused by increasing agricultural production and productivity tends to

improve social welfare, particularly in rural areas.

What are the main characteristics of agriculture?

It is evident that agriculture, in essence, is an industry characterized by strong regional

“uniqueness,” which is influenced by the natural and social environments of the region. Its industrial

characteristics derive from its essence, that is, production activities comprising combined factors.

What are the types of farming systems?

Types of Farming

* Arable: Crops.

* Pastoral: Animals.

* Mixed: Crops and animals.

* Subsistence: Grown just for the farmer and his family.

* Commercial: Grown to sell.

* Intensive: High inputs of labour or capital ususally small.

* Extensive: Low inputs of labour or capital.

* Sedentary: Permanently in in one place.

Which disciplines in agriculture?

Main Subjects:

* Agronomy 1 — crop production.

* Agronomy 2— field crops.

* Entomology — study about insects.

* Plant pathology — plant diseases.

* Soil science — soil studies,manures,fertilisers.

* Genetics and plant breeding — physiology and genetic engineering and others.

* Agricultural Economics.

* Agriculture Extension.

What is the importance of agriculture?

The main source of raw materials to major industries such as cotton and jute fabric, sugar, tobacco, edible as well as

non-edible oils is agriculture. Moreover, many other industries such as processing of fruits as well as

vegetables and rice husking get their raw material mainly from agriculture.

What are the advantages of agriculture?

A number of disadvantages also resulted from farming. First, agriculture placed higher demands on the natural

environment, leading to problems like soil exhaustion.

In addition, since populations were more sedentary, they were also more likely to pollute their surrounding

environment.

What are some jobs in agriculture?

Jobs directly related to your degree include:

* Agricultural consultant.

* Farm manager.

* Fish farm manager.

* Plant breeder/geneticist.

* Rural practice surveyor.

* Soil scientist.

What are the three main types of agriculture?

Subsistence agriculture is often divided into three different types, including intensive subsistence, which is the

traditional method, shifting cultivation, which relies on clearing forest to create new farm plots every few

years and pastoral nomadism, which relies on traveling with herds of animals.

What are careers in agriculture?

Jump to Careers in Agriculture and Forestry

* Agricultural Engineer.

* Agricultural Food Scientist.

* Arborist.

What are the benefits of farming?

When a community invests in a farm, its long term viability and security as a food production (and social)

system are supported.

Farmers benefit from market and price stability when communities support their farmers through community shared

agriculture programs, farmers markets, and local distribution networks

What is the role of agriculture?

* Herbs.

* Landscaping Trees and Shrubs.

* Mushrooms.
